London Calling August 27, 2007

Filed under: Trips — Kelly Van den Bleeken @ 1:01 pm

Woohoo! This sunday I’m off to London. I’ve been there before, but actually at the wrong time: on 22 july 2005… That’s right: ONE day after the London bombings, so not exactly an ideal ambiance for tourists.

Hopefully this time there won’t be any terrorist attacks ;) so we can visit London properly. On my ‘to see’ list: definitely the Tate Modern museum (been there before, but the museum is such a treat for the eye: I love the industrial feeling of the building and ofcourse its exhibitions of masterpieces by Dali, Lichtenstein, Warhol, Pollock,…); Tate Britain (art from the 16th century up till now); The British Museum (probably a must for every tourist ;) ); Houses of Parliament; The national Gallery; The Soho district and China Town.

We’re staying in a youth hostel near Piccadily circus, hopefully we’ll meet interesting people there, willing to exchange usefull tourist-tips ;) If you have any, feel free to post them…

Discovering Harry Potter August 27, 2007

One of my good friends (you know who you are when reading this :) ) is quite a convinced fan of Mister Potter…. I couldn’t believe my ears at first. Yesterday (blush, blush :) ) I saw the 5th film of Potter’s adventures in the theatre. And I must admit I enjoyed every minute of it. That’s quite surprising, keeping in mind that normally I’m not really ‘in to’ fantasy. But the battle between Harry and his accomplices Ron and Hermine on the one hand and Voldemort on the other captivated my attention. The dark atmosphere of this type of film also fascinates me, especially because I always thought the target audience for the Potter films was -12 years… oops ;) . Anyways, Harry Potter rocks (?) and hopefully he’ll kick Voldemort’s ass big time ;)
